Martin Garrix‘s rise to fame is nothing short of incredible. From starting out producing music as a hobby in his bedroom, to conquering the DJ world, he really has done it all. He’s amassed over 1.8 billion total views across his YouTube channel, released 2 multi-platinum selling singles with Dua Lipa and Bebe Rexha, signed with Sony Music, and won two awards at last year’s MTV EMA‘s, all within a 12-month time-frame. While Martin’s resume continues to grow at rapid speed, it didn’t happen overnight. With such a busy schedule, it’s hard to believe that the 21-year old hasn’t burnt out yet. However, Martin explains that it’s the family atmosphere and determined team around him, that proves to be the key to his success.
“It started as a hobby, me making music in my bedroom.I didn’t even have the intention to turn it into a business. Then I started releasing my music, people started getting involved, and so I needed a manager, someone who was just helping me, guiding me, pushing me into the right directions and handling all the business stuff for me.”
With music being his number one priority, it is vital that Martin’s team communicates effectively and delegate tasks accordingly, in order to give him as much time as possible to fully devote himself to producing his music. While some management teams have been known to overwork their artists, Martin’s team do their absolute best to keep him as fresh and motivated as he was when he was just 16 years old.
